The Moon

"Aren't you forgetting something?" Crystalbrain asked.

"And what might that be?" I responded with a question.

"You forgot about the fucking moon. Aren't you the least bit curious what may have been on the moon?" asked Crystalbrain.

"Oh...I suppose," I said.

"Then, we shall go," Crystalbrain said, and suddenly I was sitting on the a landscape of what seemed to be rocks but for the fact that they were squishy like human flesh. Near the horizon could be seen a floating black mist that covered the flesh-land.

"What's that?" I asked.

"Darkness," said Crystalbrain.

I said, "Well, I can see that, but what kind of darkness, why is it dark, what is it?"

"It's just plain darkness. People didn't know much about darkness except that when it was night out, you couldn't see shit. And they thought about the womb being dark, like the inside of a vagina was dark. So, no one knew why there was darkness, just that it seemed to be around at some times," Crystalbrain said.

"Do we even know what darkness is now?" I asked.

"Nope," said Crystalbrain, "The best we have is 'absence of light'."

I looked about the landscape and saw small, bloody, and milky nipples jutting into the air.

"What the hell are those?" I asked, even though I could clearly see what they were.

"Bloody and milky nipples," Crystalbrain said, taking a torch lighter to his crack-pipe.

"I see that," I said.

"People thought the moon was feminine. Menstrual cycles and milk to feed babies. You get the idea," said Crystalbrain.

"OK, so who is the head of the moon?" I asked.

"Julioras," said Crystalbrain.

"I assume that I'm going to see her?" I asked.

"Indeed," replied Crystalbrain.

Suddenly, the flesh of the moon opened up like a gash, and we floated downwards into the flesh until we landed in a pulsing chamber. There was an undulating pool of blood that rose up onto a small island of rock. As the blood licked the edges of the rock, it left little red stains that faded into greyer areas where the blood did not reach. In the center of this area was a slab of rock on which laid a sleeping woman with four arms, a pair of blood-drenched wings, and a vulva on her forehead with a crystal in its center.

"Her name is Julioras?" I asked.

"Indeed," said Crystalbrain.

"Why does she have a vagina on her forehead?" I asked, expecting a strange answer.

"Femininity," replied Crystalbrain.

"I suppose it would be more feminine than having a dick on your forehead, according to some interpretations of gender," I said.

"You're getting too far ahead of yourself. Try not to think," said Crystalbrain.

"I can't have my own thoughts?" I asked.

"No, part of my job is to reform your thoughts. It's all part of the cult," he said.

"I see. Well, tell me about the crystal in her forehead," I said.

Crystalbrain replied, "That, my friend, is what keeps the moon alive, and why she is asleep. As long as she sleeps in this chamber, the moon covers her like a womb to protect her, but if she were to wake up, the moon would disappear. So the crystal was placed there by the sun god to ensure that the moon arises at the proper time. It forces her eyes to stay closed."

"I see, so she's like a baby?" I asked.

"A bit so, like a grown baby god that's the mother of the moon at the same time. A mother and a child, all at once," said Crystalbrain.

"Interesting," I said.

"And now you've seen the moon and the moon goddess," said Crystalbrain. He snapped his fingers and we were sitting in my living room again.

"I suppose you're going to show me more of the cosmos later?" I asked, genuinely curious to see what Crystalbrain had in store for me to see.

"Yes, we shall get to that. But first I'm going to go on a mission," he said.

"A mission?" I asked.

"Yeah, a mission. Like, a crack-smoking mission. You know, it's slang, they call it a mission when you smoke crack many times in a row, over and over again," Crystalbrain said.

"Ahh," I nodded, and said, "that kind of mission."

"Yes, other kinds of missions can wait," he said.
